D. Lawrence Barksdale has spent the better part of 50 years chasing light, chasing stories, and occasionally chasing his camera bag across crowded airports. After a long and successful career photographing everything from luxury hotels and corporate boardrooms to food, products, and people, he has happily wandered off into the world of fine art photography—where nobody asks him to move the ketchup bottle three inches to the left.

Armed with a camera, a sense of adventure, and a suspicious willingness to wake up at 4:00 a.m. for a sunrise, Lawrence travels the country creating landscape, nature, travel, and digital art images that celebrate beauty, wonder, and the occasional happy accident.

His work has been exhibited across the United States and can be found in homes, offices, and places where bare walls have finally decided to stop being boring.

When he's not photographing mountains, coastlines, wildlife, or forgotten backroads, he's teaching, mentoring, speaking, and encouraging the next generation of photographers to avoid at least some of the mistakes he spent 50 years perfecting.

His mission is simple: create art that makes people smile, pause, remember, and occasionally say, “Wow… where on earth is that?”
